Introducing Gemi, your not-so-average planner with a special twist

Setting Daily Goals

You'll receive a reminder an hour before your bedtime schedule. Daily, you're prompted to set goals for the following day and prioritize them accordingly. Stay connected with friends by viewing and interacting with their task lists. If you appreciate their efforts, reward them with a gemstone and offer uplifting comments to motivate and support one another!

Collect Your Gems

Each gemstone represents a specific challenge or pain point you wish to address. For instance,  if your primary goal is to enhance organization, you'll initially receive the 'Organi' gemstone as a symbol of this focus area.

 

By consistently jotting down daily notes and leveraging our instructional tutorials, your 'Organi' gemstone will gradually transform, reflecting your progress. Accumulate these evolving gemstones as a testament to the barriers you've successfully overcome on your journey.

I focused on creating a grid system and layout that appeared concise and intuitive. The rationale behind this design choice is to minimize distractions and complexity. I believe that

an overly intricate interface could potentially lead users, especially those with ADHD, to become easily lost and distracted.

Understand our user's pain points and find what do they need

They possess immense potential and a strong desire for success, yet they often grapple with challenges such as distractions, disorganization, and impulsiveness, which hinder them from achieving their goals. As someone with ADHD, I empathize with their struggles. I aim to support those who may not recognize their inner strength and unfairly blame themselves for ongoing setbacks.

These days, influencers openly discussing their experiences with ADHD and the proliferation of related content contribute to individuals questioning their own symptoms. Despite the heightened awareness and growing number of diagnoses, there remains a gap in accurate understanding.

PROBLEM

Missed Opportunities and
Untreated Symptoms

Many adults with ADHD experience regrets not seeking help earlier or not receiving proper treatment for their ADHD symptoms, which could have improved their quality of life and functioning.

Providing accurate information about ADHD symptoms, prevalence, and treatment options can promote understanding and empathy. Encouraging holistic approaches to ADHD management,

SURVEY I (PRIMARY RESEARCH)

Common perceptions about ADHD

Surveyed 110 people, spanning various age groups, to establish common perspectives and understanding of ADHD. Questions included:

· What words come to mind when you think about ADHD?

· What colors come to mind when you think of ADHD?

· How much do you agree with this statement? (Common misunderstandings)

SURVEY II (PRIMARY RESEARCH)

Why do people with ADHD struggle? What do they need?

A general purpose of survey is to understand what most people think about an idea. I aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals with ADHD through google survey form.

INTERVIEW (PRIMARY RESEARCH)

Asking "How do you refresh yourself?"

People with ADHD often experience periods of intense focus, commonly referred to as hyperfocus. Consequently, understanding the importance of taking breaks and refreshing themselves midway is crucial for both their mental and physical well-being. I reached out to students at Pratt to inquire about their strategies for rejuvenating when they encounter feelings of demotivation and stress.

PERSONA

Who is our target audience?

Based on the interview and survey results, I developed a unique persona as a starting point for brainstorming solutions around thier needs and frustrations.

MECHANISM LEARNING 

What are the challenges ADHDs face?

I wrote down the main symptoms of ADHD and sequential problems they usually make. Due to imbalances in neurotransmitters, particularly issues with dopamine regulation, individuals with ADHD often exhibit consistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.

DEFINING

Pain points and Needs

I split my target audience into two groups: students and workers.  I considered the challenges they might encounter in their day-to-day lives.

IDEATION

Sketches to Wireframes

Keeping in mind of the key learning points that we hoped to relay,

I began to iterate on wireframes from low fi to the mid fi version.

It was helpful to first focus primarily on content flow with only words, carefully considering how we hope to relay the journey metaphor and prime users to gain the mindset for upcoming reflective process.
